सुरु भयो गैँडा स्थानान्तरण : पहिलो दिन एउटा पोथी गैँडा पुर्वी सेक्टर पठाईयो

सन्जय भट्टराई, कावासोती । चितवन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जले पश्चिम सेक्टरबाट गैँडा स्थानान्तरणको काम सुरु गरेको छ ।

पहिलो दिन पश्चिम सेक्टरमा रहेको कावासोती-१५ मा पर्ने गुन्द्रही ढकाहा मध्यवर्ती सामुदायिक वनबाट अन्दाजी १५ वर्षको पोथी गैँडालाई पुर्वी सेक्टर पठाईएको हो । बिहान १० बजे देखि स्थानान्तरणका लागि योग्य गैँडा खोज्ने क्रममा साँझ पख मात्रै  १५ वर्षको पोथी गैँडालाई डार्ट गरेर  ट्रकमा राखेर पुर्वी सेक्टर पठाईएको निकुञ्जका सूचना अधिकारी अविनाश थापा मगरले बताए ।

राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज तथा वन्यजन्तु संरक्षण विभागका महानिर्देशक डा.रामचन्द्र कंडेल, प्रवक्ता बेदकुमार ढकाल, विभागका वरिष्ठ ईकोलोजिष्ट हरिभद्र आचार्य, चितवन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जका प्रमुख डा.गणेश पन्त सहितको विभाग, निकुञ्ज, राष्ट्रिय प्रकृति संरक्षण कोष, नेपाली सेनाको टोलि गैँडा स्थानान्तरणको लागि नवलपुरमा खटिएको छ । पश्चिम सेक्टरबाट प्रजनन योग्य गैँडा लगेर पुर्वी सेक्टरका गैँडा सँग प्रजनन गराउनका लागि स्थानान्तरण गर्न लागिएको हो ।

सन २०२२ मा राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज तथा वन्यजन्तु विभागको नेतृत्वमा गठित प्राविधिक कार्यदलले गरेको एक वर्ष लामो सम्भाव्यता अध्ययनले निकुञ्जको पश्चिम सेक्टरबाट १० वटा गैँडालाई स्थानान्तरण गरेर पूर्वी सेक्टरमा लैजाने सिफारिस गरेको थियो । वन तथा वातावरण मन्त्रालयले उक्त कार्यदलको सिफारिस अनुसार १० वटा गैँडालाई स्थानान्तरण गर्न स्वीकृति दिए पछि २०८०को चैत महिना पश्चिम सेक्टरबाट ६ वटा गैँडालाई पूर्वी सेकटरमा स्थानान्तरण गरिएको थियो ।

पश्चिम सेक्टरबाट गैँडालाई पूर्वी सेक्टरमा स्थानान्तरण गर्दा पश्चिम सेक्टरको नवलपुर र यहाँको मध्यवर्ती क्षेत्रमा हुने गरेको पर्यटकीय गतिविधिमा असर पर्ने भन्दै पर्यटन व्यवसायीले निकुञ्जलाई आग्रह गरेको भए पनि निकुञ्जले स्थानान्तरणलाई अगाडी बढाएको हो ।

जोखिमका हिसाबले चितवन निकुञ्जमा पश्चिमभन्दा पूर्वी क्षेत्र बढी सुरक्षित रहेकाले आन्तरिक रूपमा पनि गैँडा स्थानान्तरण गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता औल्याएको निकुञ्जले पश्चिमतर्फका गैँडालाई पूर्वमा स्थानान्तरण गर्ने र ‘रेडियो कलर’ लगाएर अनुगमनलाई प्रभावकारी बनाउदा गैँडालाई बाढीको क्षतिबाट बचाउन सकिने बताउदै आएको छ ।
